Split Static is a sensory surge—an interplay of sound and image from longtime collaborators Alex Pelly (audio + video synthesis) and Elaine Carey (analog samples + synthesizers). Pelly, an acclaimed video artist, layers multi-generational technology into dynamic compositions of color, shape, and motion. Sonically, the duo fuses shifting beats and rhythms with atmospheric noise and sustained drones, building soundscapes that oscillate between tension and release.

Friends and collaborators for over a decade, the Los Angeles–based duo honed their shared aesthetic through numerous video and intermedia projects, most notably their 2017 Coaxial Arts residency Solid States—an immersive, interactive audiovisual installation that became a touchstone for their current work.
