TELECAVES | 2013-2020
Telecaves was an electroacoustic noise duo formed in Los Angeles in 2013 by production designer Elaine Carey and audio engineer Juliette Amoroso. Working with vintage analog gear, the pair developed a sound that pushed at the edges of contrast, harsh noise balanced by soft ambience, dense textures emerging from spacious aural atmospheres. Live visuals by longtime collaborator Alex Pelly became integral to the project, expanding their performances into full audio-visual environments.
On stage, the duo blended tabletop electronics, musical saw, theremin, guitar, and analog samples into evolving layers of noise, drone, and fractured melody. Drawing influence from musique concrète, the free music of their LA predecessors, and a shared devotion to sonic catharsis, their work was both intimate and spectral. Moving fluidly between formal stages, art galleries, and DIY spaces, their sound was timeless, carrying a sense of both the primordial and the futuristic.
After countless live performances, Telecaves disbanded in 2020, but their imprint remains: an artifact of deep creative partnership and a distinctive chapter in Los Angeles experimental music.
